Who are you again?.....

So, today marks the first day of Denver's schedule change at Boeing. He is working the day shift! This may not seem like some kind of big deal to a lot of you but it really is. It seems like for the past 7 years we have always worked opposite shifts or something out of the ordinary in the hopes that one of us would be at home with the kids at all times. So far, it has worked. I can happily say that I havent had to give my children over to any strangers....ok with the exception of 2 months in Arizona, which, after Evan cracked his face open and had to get stitches, and the boys began crying each morning that I was leaving them there, I quickly made our schedules work so I could keep them home. It hasnt always been blissful. I can honestly say that there are times when I crave conversation that doesnt include Pokemon. Or times when if I have to change another diaper or listen to crying, whining, and fighting for one more second I seriously might crack.... But, after all is said and done, it has been the best thing for my peace of mind and for my children that we have sacrificed normalcy.

Now here we are, about to give normalcy a shot. It should prove to be very interesting. On one hand you have visions of the family eating dinner together and talking about their day. Afterward dad helps with homework and we all watch a show together and then kiss the kids goodnight and spend some quality time together before we hit the sack. On the other hand....which is probably the hand we are holding....it is going to be total chaos. At least for the first little while until Denver gets acclimated to our routine. He is excited to be able to spend more time with the kids and to actually eat dinner with us more than once or twice a week. He gets to be home for all the baseball games and that is exciting in its own right. But, I think he also has visions of sitting on the couch watching fishing shows all night......ain't gonna happen! Like I said, he is going to have to become acclimated.

I think the strangest part of all of this is going to be actually going to bed together. You see, up until tonight, he comes home around 1:00 in the morning. Obviously I am already asleep. On the weekends, I am working until 5:00 in the morning. So...now, we get to go to bed at the same time. (that is if I get all the housework done before midnight....) Weird. I think we are going to have to get to know each other again....in a way. And it is definitely time for Addison to start sleeping in her own bed. Eventually, I think we are going to love the situation. I know Im going to enjoy the help at night! The bonus is that now, I can actually go to activities at night without getting a babysitter or lugging the kids with me. Wow. Its going to be great! Small pleasures = Big returns.

10 Years Together.....

I can hardly believe that tomorrow I will have been married to Denver for 10 years. It doesnt seem like it has been that long since the first day I met him. In fact it almost feels like yesterday. We knew each other at a distance for a year or so before we actually started dating. Then it took another year before we actually married.

March 21, 1998 was a beautiful day in Pacific Grove, California. It was during the time of 'El Nino' if you remember that and I was so worried that the place we were getting married was washed away. The chances of any flowers being intact were slim to none. But, the day we got married this field of yellow flowers had completely bloomed. It was GORGEOUS! We couldnt have planned it if we tried. Funny enough, the next day all of those blooms had blown away..it felt like they had been there just for us. Our wedding was simple and perfect and I will never forget it. The next 10 years have flown by and yet so much has happened. Ups and downs of course, as in any marriage. But great memories and 3 beautiful children. I look forward to 10 more HAPPY years with you Denver....and then 10 more after that.....etc, etc, etc.

Lost in the 80's......

Ok. Im having nostaligic flashbacks to Jr. High and High School.... I think it is because #1. I have been writing a personal history and happen to be in High School at the moment. and #2. Club DV8 just burned to the ground the other day. Nevermind that I only actually walked into that place twice it was still a fixture for the 80's and 90's club scene and they always had the best concerts. I was never allowed to go during High School (of course) but even in college it was popular enough that many a BYU student made the trek to Salt Lake City to do a little dance! Anyway, it is no longer..... so with that, I have made a temporary change to my music playlist to honor the best decade ever...... the 80's! I love 80's music. This entire playlist is made up of 80's New Wave music as this was my biggest influence during High School (sad as that might be). I love a lot of other genre's but this one in particular stirs up the most memories. I had fun putting it together and had to tear myself away from adding more music. I could go on and on and on! For those of you that are not 80's New Wave afficionado's some of this music may sound a little strange. Sorry about that. I will return to normal in a week or two.....until then enjoy, or turn it down! Oh, and technically this picture of me was taken in 1992 so not officially an 80's pic. I dont have a scanner so I cant give you one of those pictures. Just picture me a little younger and hair much much bigger!

In other news, Denver and I went to the Jazz game tonight. I had a great time. First we celebrated our recent weight loss with a meal from The Red Iguana....dont worry, I controlled myself. I am still feeling the "burn" from my chili verde burrito.....yum. After dinner we headed over to the game. I havent been to a Jazz game since high school (even more memories flooding now) and I had forgotten how much fun they are. The Jazz played the San Antonio Spurs and actually won the game! Denver was frantically looking for Eva Longoria (as if) but unfortunately, Utah is probably too cold for her Hollywood Highness. It was exciting and I would love to go to more games. Denver won these tickets from his work and that made it even better.....Free! Anyway, we had a nice time away from the kiddies. Now its off to bed and up tomorrow to start my week...... Have a good night.
